The idea of Dilemaa started as an entertainment social media app where anyone can share any dilemmas they have. It wasn't solving a problem and it was merely a side project from the founder, Benjamin Kim, where, so far, he spent 8 months developing the app. However, throughout the journey of meeting mentors and receiving support from Burgess Institute, Dilemaa is aimed to be the most helpful Q&A social media app where the core idea isn't to just end at an answer but extending to see how those decisions actually pan out in real life.
So far, Dilemaa has won and got into a few competitions and accelerator programs.
First, Dilemaa has been selected to be one of the 15 semifinalist for the Burgess New Venture Challenge where teams can compete for a share of $50,000 in funding. From this competition, we are guaranteed with at least $750 in funding and can win up to $15,000 as a team. Check out our team in this page.
Secondly, Dilemaa was fortunate enough to win 2024 Sesi Midwest Entrepreneurship Conference & Skandalaris Business Plan Competition and receive a certificate. Though we didn't receive funding, we met amazing people and networked with students in Eastern Michigan University.
And lastly, Dilemaa has been selected as one of the 5 teams to participate Momentum from Michigan State University and secured $5,000! Momentum is a competitive pre-accelerator program designed with advanced Spartan startups in mind. The six-week summer program provides a $5,000 infusion of capital, industry-specific mentorship, and a tailored growth curriculum. As a student who self-funded the project by himself for 8 months, $5,000 funding is a significant amount and Dilemaa will use this fund to develop high quality MVP.
Overall, Dilemaa is making significant progress and we are excited to see where Dilemaa is heading. The founder, Benjamin Kim, is actively promoting Dilemaa by creating a YouTube channel, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Dilemaa launch date is TBD for both Android and iOS.
